Forest of Evil

These records -- it's almost as if someone went into my mind and figured out exactly what I'm interested in and then committed it to vinyl. Uncanny. Frank Reidy and Eric Allen take the British modern/ancient paradox and realize it at the level of the instruments sitting around in the studio: John Carpenter-style synths/machines on the one hand and ethereal winds and straight-laced classical percussion on the other. A very strange combination. Puts me in mind of neolithic round mounds and crop circles and that sort of thing. I really like the clunky DIY sleeves too. The gray one above is basically a xerox pasted onto a record sleeve. Here's a clip from Vol. 2 (you can find rips of both albums pretty easily if you do a google search.)

  2. Hey Julian. Buried deep in comments here:

Let me know if the link turns up bad and I'll rip my copy. The thing about V. 1 is that it sounds better if you take the tracks and slow them WAY down.

  3. yeah, thats where I was looking but all the links are bad except one which says vol2 but is in fact vol1. I've ordered a vinyl so i'll see if that turns up.. if you're doing a rip anyway let me know

  5. cheers, nice one
Sun High has a few of the woozy synth tunes from Dawn of the Dead, they're on the Trunk DotD album with all library cues that Romero used
have to check out those other LPs
I'll have a look out for a rip of Sun High somewhere

  12. lovely stuff...

"Sun High" on ebay right this minute for £50...£50 that I am no chance of having any time soon! if it wasn't for that pesky recession...

  13. Yeah, they're nice ones for sure. Vol. 2 used to turn up cheap regularly on Ebay about 5 or 6 years ago, Vol. 1 I've never seen about so much... Sun High! Ah! I've fancied that one for years but £50 is indeed a wee bit steep. Is the rest of the LP as good as the DOTD tracks?

  14. These are fantastic, thanks! Was just wondering though, the only rip of Vol. 1 I've managed to track down is missing track 6, any suggestions?
